[Lakes-O Front Page]

Hammonds Pond was a really good venue for the orienteering with a great path network, lots of trees and street furniture for control sites. The summer growth of vegetation also prevented the controls from being seen a long way away making competitors read their maps with care.
The weather started off a little showery for a short time, but after lunch the sun came out and bathed us all in warmth for the finals.
Thanks to all the competitors for taking part in the event. Some very impressive running from many of you.
The Qualifier Races produced some close racing, setting up the start list for the finals.
Thanks to all the helpers for their efforts at the event.... it doesn't work without a lot of help!! Everyone got stuck into their jobs and  did them really well. Thanks also to all the team managers for their work in organising the teams.

RESULTS for each of the courses.

The Qualifier races for Boys and Girls separately were very exciting with some very fast times and a good spread of runners over from all the Districts. The overall scores for the competition are worked out by adding together the six placings for your team in the A Final. If you didn't complete the course correctly then you get a score of 36. In the end it was very close indeed with Carlisle winning by one point from Allerdale. Congratulations to Carlisle.

Carlisle 76, Allerdale 77, South Lakes 100, Eden 112, Copeland 116 and Barrow 206.
